Our commitment

Emerald Send should be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. This statement covers our website at emeraldsend.com and the Emerald Send app.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We treat accessibility as part of building each feature, not as a separate project.

Conformance status

Emerald Send is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA: most of the site and app meet the standard, but some parts don’t yet. The known gaps are listed below. This assessment is our own review; we haven’t yet had an independent audit.

What we do

  • Build on semantic HTML, with one main heading per page, landmarks, and labeled form fields.
  • Use accessible components for menus, dialogs, tabs and selects, so they work with a keyboard and announce their state to screen readers.
  • Show a visible focus outline on interactive elements, and provide a “Skip to content” link on every page.
  • Pair color with text or icons for statuses such as inbox health, so meaning never depends on color alone.
  • Choose text and control colors to meet AA contrast ratios, and keep layouts usable at 200% zoom and on small screens.
  • Respect your system’s reduced-motion setting by turning off decorative animation.
  • Give actions plain-language labels and error messages that say what went wrong and how to fix it.

Known limitations

This is what we know needs work. We’re fixing it and will update this list as we do:

  • The daily trend charts in Analytics, on campaign pages and in inbox health aren’t yet described to screen readers. The totals they summarize are shown as text on the same page, and we can send you the underlying numbers on request.

Some content comes from others and is outside our control: sign-in and consent screens from Google and Microsoft, checkout pages from Stripe, and the emails our customers write and send.

Compatibility

Emerald Send works with recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and with the screen readers that pair with them, such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver. It requires JavaScript. Older browsers may not display or behave correctly.

Feedback and help

If something on Emerald Send is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, email support@emeraldsend.com with “Accessibility” in the subject. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use if you can.

We reply within 5 business days. While we work on a fix, we’ll help you get the task done another way, for example by making the change for you.
